I have transitioned this site from AWS Amplify to Render.com for static site generation and hosting. The reason is that AWS Amplify suddenly started charging for a service that was initially free. In particular, the firewall functionality started to cost money, something I was either unaware of or not really advertised.
As I do not need the complexity of Amplify for my site, I decided to move to something simpler. I hope that the promise of the free tier on Render.com holds. If not, I probably will move again and use either GitHub Pages or self-hosting on my own server. Given the small number of visitors to this site, self-hosting is perhaps a viable option.
